I started to worry about whether we could get all the cars charged before the event. I sent out questionnaires, trying to find out where everyone was coming from, when they would arrive, where they would charge, and so on. I was trying to avoid having six cars show up at one charger on the way to San Francisco. As it turned out, this problem took care of itself, and people made very diverse plans, some arriving Friday night and making a weekend out of it. The lunch at Gabbiano's served as a good social get-together, but it also allowed us to charge cars during the lunch, and to display cars already charged in front of the restaurant, with the Ferry Building and Bay Bridge in the background. The dinner afterward, another social occasion, allowed us to get cars charged after the drive. Both restaurants were within walking distance of the PG&E garage where we were charging.

At the lunch, we presented Ed Fitzgerald of Costco (shown in photo at right with Joe Utschig, EV1 owner and Costco manager from San Diego) a plaque from the EV1 Club, thanking Costco for the charging infrastructure and their support of electric vehicles. The plaque featured a charging paddle (from the promotional keychain!) mounted at the top. We'll have to get a good picture of the plaque. Unfortunately, we didn't think of that ahead of time.
