The Summer Triangle

Astrophotos | Home Page

The summer triangle, defined by three bright stars of the summer Milky Way (Deneb in Cygnus, Vega in Lyra, and Altair in Aquila).

This is a rich area which shows numerous gas clouds such as the North America Nebula (upper left of photo). The Great Rift, a dark dust cloud also clearly cuts across the plane of the Milky Way (diagonally across the frame).
