This area, spanning parts of Ophiuchus and Scorpius,
is a favorite area of photgraphers because of
the range of colors and variety of objects visible
in a single shot. The brightest star is Antares,
and the two globular clusters are M4 (to the right
of Antares) and NGC 6144 (above and to the right of Antares).
Note the dark areas above and to the left of Antares
where clouds of matter are obscuring the background
stars of the Milky Way.
Vignetting (dark areas in the corners of the photo)
is caused by
the narrow opening of the
Pentax 67 camera coupling used for this setup.
