North-South Taikai, 3/20/05, San Jose


Registration packets were handed out to the dojo representatives at the February Board meeting. The packets include forms and complete contact information. The following invitation was transcribed from the cover letter.

Northern California Kendo Federation will be hosting the 47th annual North-South kendo tournament on March 20, 2005. All SCKF dojo's are cordially invited to participate in the tournament. It is my pleasure to present you the following invitation:

Registration: 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M.
    Location: Leigh High School

        Cost: No charge for tournament registration or bento for participants and
              shinpan.  Bentos for any non-participant guests are $8.00 each.

    Brackets: Women:        14 years and older (any rank)
              Youth:        10 years and under
                            11-13 years
                            14-17 years
              Adult kyu:    18 years and older (Kyu only)
              Seniors:      50 years and older (Yudansha)
              Yudansha:     1-2 Dan
                            3-4 Dan
                            5 Dan and above
                 Note: a kenshi can only participate in one individual division

              Team matches: Youth team (7 members, Non Yudansha)
                            Yudansha team (7 members, any rank)
                            Women's team (5 members, any rank)
                            Kodansha team (5 members, 6 dan up and 45 yrs+)
                 Note: team members will be selected the day of the tournament
