EV1 Club Survey Results

First, I'd like to thank everyone who mailed out their surveys. It was an excellent response rate (48 responses out of 100 mailed).

My initial idea for this survey was to provide the press and potential future EV1 drivers with some solid numbers representing the experiences of the "real" people who are already driving the EV1. Unfortunately, this was my first attempt at a survey and it was flawed.

As I reported at the March Club meeting, the results were a bit confusing because the questions weren't specific enough. Ask one hundred people what their "best range" is and you'll get a hundred different ideas of what "best range" means. The answers were so varied that the results can't be deemed accurate.

As flawed information serves no purpose I will only report the results of questions that were clearly answered.

  • 90% of the EV1 drivers who responded were "very" or "extremely" satisfied with their car.

  • The best reported single distance by an EV1 on one charge was 106.3 miles.

  • 87% of the EV1 drivers that responded use public charging.

  • 45% report they "never" use their convenience charger. 45% report they use their convenience charger 1-5 times a month.

  • The color choices of the respondants were:
    Silver/blue 46% -- Red 31% -- Green 23%

As for mileage, range, insurance cost, etc. the survey questions were too unspecific to elicit an accurate response. There is talk of doing another survey, with more precise questions, and hopefully, accurate results. If you have any questions please e-mail me at bdewey@earthlink.net.

Again, thank you all for your time and effort.

Brett Dewey
