Solar Eclipse

Mid-Eclipse Composite

Mid-eclipse HDR (combination of 12-frame exposure bracket) view of the corona. The star Regulus (α Leonis, magnitude +1.4) in the constellation Leo is visible at left. Additional stars down to 9th magnitude can be seen in this enlarged and labeled image. There should be two additional stars in the image, but they are magnitude 7+, and closer to the sun so they are apparently masked by the brightness of the corona. I'm currently trying to identify some additional stars by looking at a sharpened negative image.
