Jupiter/Saturn Conjunction (T-5 days)


5 days to go before the close conjunction of Jupiter & Saturn. The shot above is the full frame of the camera view. Saturn is at the top of the frame. Jupiter and 3 of the 4 Galilean moons are at the bottom.

Below is a frame of the moon taken shortly after the frame above (shown at the same scale). Clouds illuminated by sunset and palm fronds from a nearby tree are also visible.

Below the image of the moon are enlargements of Saturn and Jupiter. From top to bottom, around Jupiter are the Galilean moons Callisto, Europa, and Ganymede. Io was behind Jupiter at the time.
