STEVESTON KENDO CLUB 40TH ANNIVERSARY

KENDO TOURNAMENT

February 9, 2002

Once again a large contingency of kendo people made their way to the blustery North Country to participate in the 40th Anniversary Kendo Tournament of the Steveston Kendo Club of Steveston, BC, Canada. In all, 30 kenshi and sensei along with 17 parents and family attended this year’s event. As usual, the group was treated to a delicious supper on Friday followed by a vigorous Keiko at the community center.

Saturday, the tournament got underway at approximately 10:00 a.m. with slightly over 300 kenshi ready to fight their way to the top. Because of the very high number of participants, the tournament finally ended at 10:00 p.m. Although a long day, all of the SCKF attendees came away with a good feeling of a day that was filled with excitement and satisfaction. Many thanks must be given to all the terrific people of the Steveston Kendo club for hosting such an event.
