2026 Team SCKF Training

SCKF conducted monthly practices to prepare for the 2026 AUSKF Championships, which were held 7/3-5/26 in Las Vegas.

Toban notes:
  1. gatorade: sixteen 1-gal bottles (orange and lemon-lime)
  2. drinking water: eight 1-gal bottles
  3. 16oz drinking cups: 100
  4. ice: one 20-lb bag
  5. snacks: optional donation by each toban dojo will be greatly appreciated.
    Suggestions include fruits, coffee, cookies, donuts
  6. toban dojo: save all receipts; see reimbursement procedure. Also, please let the next dojo know the ending inventory.
  7. at Norwalk Dojo
    • one table from classroom #3 for refreshments; clean and return when practice is over
    • empty all trashcans (gym, changing rooms, kitchen, hallways, and outside the main entrance) to the back dumpster, reline with new trash bags
    • all non-Norwalk kenshi and sensei who participate in any practice at Norwalk Dojo are required by the Center to sign a Norwalk facility waiver form

    Thu 7/2: 3-5:30pm at the warm-up area
    Fri-Sun 7/3-5: mornings through the lunch break, 3rd floor
  • parking
    • see map
    • only park in the Tropicana Parking Garage, as those parking on the street outside will be ticketed. EV chargers are available.
    • when using GPS, Uber, or Lyft, use "Tropicana Parking Garage" as the destination
      • DO NOT use the UNLV Maryland Pkwy address that shows up on map apps

      • you must use the PayByPhone app (download before you arrive to avoid delays at the gate)
      • Thu (all day) and Fri (thru 1pm) is $2/hour, $14/day max
      • Fri afternoon through Sunday is free throughout the structure

    • UNLV Student Rec and Wellness Center (SRWC)

      • team managers, team coaches, and players shall wear lanyards (handed out at the manager's meeting Thu 4pm at Room #1210)
      • spectators will be provided wristbands at the entrance to the venue

      • entrance and warm up facilities are on the 1st floor

      • the 2nd and 4th floors are gym-members-only; stay off those floors
      • notes
        • bogu storage zones are behind the bleachers, assigned per federation
        • shoes must stay with you. shoe bags provided 3rd floor entry
        • LOST and FOUND is at the AUSKF table on the 3rd floor
  • food and drink
    • per UNLV's SRWC policy, open food or drinks are NOT allowed in the gym areas. Resealable containers are allowed.
    • lunch
      • served from 11am until the end of the tournament
      • location: Hazel M. Wilson Dining Commons ("DIN"), a 4-minute walk from the gym (see map)
      • lunch tickets are color-coded: Fri=blue, Sat=yellow, Sun=purple
      • the DIN is plated, full-service, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. There is no to-go service,so bring your own resealable containers if you want to take food back to the gym.
      • those with lost tickets will be asked to pay at the door.
    • the 1st floor snack/vending area has fresh food, snacks, coffee, and more for sale. Credit card/Apple Pay only, no cash
  • volunteers (refer to email sent 6/30)
    • meet each day on Court A at the following times, depending on your shift
      • morning shifts: 30 minutes before the opening ceremony
      • afternoon shifts: 15 minutes before the end of the lunch break
    • see roles and responsibilities document
    • no dress code for volunteers. Tournament Managers and Court Coordinators will be provided vests to help players and coaches identify them. All other volunteers will be provided with identification lanyards.
    • all lunch and banquet tickets for volunteers will be provided at the Manager's meeting on Thursday
